Calling all guys...
hahaha James...if more guys come to your group I'll join you ;-))...;maybe you should change the name of the topic to get the attention of the guys!!!!
Hey James if you ran it in a pub or curry house or local greasy spoon cafe or somewhere non churchy you might get a lot more men...James a challenge to you ! ( and to me !) There are men everywhere...but not in church so we need to get out of church and go where they are with our groups..?No ?
Reminds me of something my mother said about their village - if the church run an event like a bring & buy or whatever, in the village hall loads of people come, but anything run in the church has almost nobody - so I suggested they should hold the services in the village hall ... why not!
Seems a shame as its a lovely old church (c1100), but its half a mile outside the village, which puts people off.
May be the topic should have been "Lots of free girls" ??? ;-)
That said, the group next to us has loads of guys, but its already too big really.
As I said to Simona, guys often like to be in groups with other guys, so you can tend to get groups with lots of guys and groups with none.
I work for an evangelistic men's movement - we recommend men's only Alpha. There's a lot of reasons for this, but women generally deal with mixed groups ok, but for men it is much more effective to be single sex.....not much help for you though James:)
Happy Valentines day to all the members. If you are on your own tonight give JESUS a call. He loves you more than you will ever know!
Paul
I'd feel a bit of a fake turning yp at an Alpha Course just to pick up some ladies as I am already in the Christian. I sure there are other social settings where one can meet ladies. Need to find them though!!!
@James138 ... That's genius - I never thought of combining Alpha with Speed Dating. Why hasn't anyone tried it before?
Hello, I just wanted to share my experience of an Alpha course I went to quite a few years ago! I was brouht up in a christian family and joined the Alpha course to really question the fundementals of the christian faith. Anyway, i found that there were too may already 'christains' on the course, who in the discussion part seemed to have an answer for everything. They did not explore or challenge their beliefs at all. Just really wanted to feedback that it can be very off putting for a non-christian or someone with lots of questions. Sorry, if it has come across as negative, it's not intended that way. Just thought it may offer a different perspective. Have a good weekend. Nicola
The new Alpha course at Holy Trinity Brompton has just started and we could really do with some more guys - we've got about 600 to 700 people there this term, but some of the small groups are currently women only, or just one poor lonely guy.
Its not too late to join next week, loads of people join in week-2 - this week was "just" a brilliant introduction talk by the lovely Charlie Mackesy, who I think gave his one of his best talks ever - he's so funny, worth watching on-line, when its goes up.
So next week we start really getting stuck in with "Who was Jesus".
Come on guys - the church was packed with loads of lovely girls - what's keeping you back????
If you fancy joining my group, I'm leading group No.35 ... ;-)
...
More girls welcome, of course, too!!!
